Background

In April 2019, the ACB and Thailand’s National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation to establish an ASEAN Microbial Resource Database. The ASEAN Network on Microbial Utilization, led by BIOTEC and tasked by the ASEAN COST, is jointly implementing the Establishment and Maintenance of an ASEAN Microbial Database project with ACB.

Objectives

Consolidate and organise data from various microbial resource holders and initiated establishing and maintaining a microbial database in the ASEAN region.
Capacitate human resources in the AMS on the ex-situ preservation of microbial diversity.
Establish a common repository for the microbial data linked to the ASEAN Clearing-House Mechanism 12.
