The Institutional Strengthening of the Biodiversity Sector in the ASEAN (ISB II) Project was jointly implemented by the ASEAN Centre for Biodiversity (ACB) and the Federal Government of Germany, through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
While the initial duration was four years (March 2019 to February 2023), the Project was extended until 31 December 2023 following the approval of a no-cost extension in February 2022. The extension allows the continuous delivery of project outputs that were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic restrictions.
In August 2023, the German Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH approved another no-cost extension for the ISB II Project until 31 March 2024. The extension will ensure further delivery of the agreed project activities. In February 2024, another three-month extension of the Project is being requested by the GIZ to the BMZ to have sufficient time for the technical and financial reporting of the project closing. The official approval of the extension of the Project until June 2024 is yet to be received by GIZ and ACB.
